T'S A RUNNING JOKE IN OUR FAMILY
that we were all destined to either be cow-
boys or hockey players
--
having grown up on
a ranch outside Halkirk, Alberta, Canada.
My parents turned it into Circle Square Ranch.
It was our home, but it also served as a site for
summer Bible camps for kids. For 10 weeks each
summer, we'd have 1,500 kids come through, and
I'd join them as we learned biblical principles.

Olympic team
12 years old. That was such a huge
moment in my life.
The hockey bloodlines ran deep
on both sides of my family--my
mom's brothers each played high
level hockey, and my dad actually
passed up an opportunity to play in
the NHL to attend Bible school.
When I was 15, I was selected to
play for Kamloops, an elite junior
hockey team in Canada. It was tough
being away from home. I missed my
family and the ranch, but my faith
was my stronghold during that time.
Every young hockey player's
dream is to play in the NHL, and

My parents were such a great
example of a Christ-like life and
marriage for my two siblings and
me, and they inspired me to ask
Jesus into my heart when I was
