The Message in Media:
War Room
From the creators
of
Fireproof and
Courageous,
brothers and fi lmmakers Alex
and Stephen Kendrick present
War Room, a powerful movie
about prayer and the need for
it in everyone's life.
"People have plans for every-
thing in life: careers, fi nances,
health. But what about a strategy
for prayer to affect our lives,
our spouses and our children?"
cowriter Alex Kendrick asks. "We want to inspire,
challenge and motivate families to not just react but plan through
the right kind of battles--and to use the best resources possible."
As in all Kendrick Brothers' fi lms,
War Room follows its principal
theme to an exciting and inspiring climax. In
Flywheel, it was
personal integrity; in
Facing The Giants, resilient faith; in Fireproof,
marriages that last; and, in
Courageous, heroic parenting.
War Room presents prayer as a powerful weapon to fi ght for
what matters most to us.
War Room follows Elizabeth and Tony and their failing marriage.
Trouble in the home also adversely affects their children. The
turning point comes when an elderly woman approaches Elizabeth
and says, "Your husband is not your enemy. I can teach you how
to fi ght your real enemy with the right resources and in the right
manner," and shows Elizabeth her prayer closet.
Tony soon sees a drastic change in his wife and even wonders
if she's up to something. He discovers her "war room" and learns
that instead of fi ghting and criticizing him, she's been intensely
praying for him. What happens next is astounding.

War Room opens in theaters nationwide on August 28.
Do you want
to avoid the
messiness of
taking a stand,
content to stay
in your seat? The
balcony, for you,
provides a safe
haven; a great place
and sheltered per-
spective from which
to view the unfolding drama of
these perilous times.
We are at war.
War is bloody. War is
dirty. War can cost you an arm, or a leg,
or even your life. But, agreed, it is defi -
nitely not safe down there on the stage.
Go anyway.
At least go down to the mezzanine,
then down the aisle, and then perhaps
down to the front row.
Then, I hope you climb aboard the
stage to fi nd where God really wants
you,
"Because we are united in Christ...
He makes everything work out according
to His plan" (Ephesians 1:11).
You can't fi nd that kind of mandate
way up there in the balcony!
