EVA BURROWS
I am writing to
say what a beautiful
article you ran about
General Burrows
(July WC). What a
wonderful person
she was. She was a
true servant of God.
Many people loved her and so did I.
Good and faithful servant. Well done.
May she always rest in peace.

HERITAGE ISSUE
I thoroughly
enjoyed reading the
June 2015 issue, the
Heritage War Cry.
Having had the

The War Cry | AUGUST 2015
reviewing thousands of pages of old
War Cry's on microfi lm for my research
for the writing of two books, I found it
to be an interesting experience reading
Salvation Army history in real time.
Thank you for giving the readers of the
War Cry a snippet of this experience.
Colonel Frank Payton, via email
I have just received your Heritage
edition of War Cry and I had to email
you immediately and say how much I
am enjoying it. Great work. Great edition.

READING THE BIBLE
In 2014 I saw an article in the War Cry:
"Read the Bible One Chapter at a Time."
This intrigued me because it spoke of
a commitment farther than I have
ever taken in my entire life (I'm 77).
So when the Bible and guidebook came,
I thought this was going to be easy, but
it was more than I could have ever
expected.
I have always enjoyed getting into
the Word, either for SS class or Women's
Ministries (I am chaplain)...The one
amazing thing is the questions with
each chapter. They cause me to stop
and refl ect on my interpretation of what I
read, and sometimes how it applies to
me today. I have taken many an hour to
do one lesson, sometimes others not so
long or intricate. But in all times, I see
the Gospels differently today.
Looking forward to the following days,
weeks and months of getting into God's
Word; and even more to looking back
in my notebooks to see how I have
considered God's Word and applied it daily.
