Army's Emergency (EDS) aids people in need; whether the disasters are manmade or natural, involving a few families or encompassing entire regions. Here, those who coordinate emergency services in the four USA territories highlight how the Army currently stands at the ready. ranging from food and operations services to emotional and spiritual care, group crisis intervention, incident command system, pastoral crisis intervention, suicide prevention et. al volunteers to take lead roles in the incident command system, which we use to manage all disaster response. to specific community needs, we conduct basic training at the corps level and are planning training sessions in key locations throughout the territory. For example, at the request of the city of Milwaukee, we train and coordinate chaplains to serve as a resource for law enforcement and survivors in major incidents. Over 50 chaplains have already been trained and some have responded to tragic events in the and local preparedness exercises and make sure we are written into state and local preparedness plans. The WUM Division takes part in the annual Patriot Exercise, and has added ESC and the Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network (SATERN) response to its hydration support. The Indiana Division has developed a shelter course. Management Teams. Since the territory includes many boundaries on the New Madrid Seismic Fault line, preparations have begun for a large- scale emergency response exercise in 2016. The Salvation Army Continuing Education Program (SACEP) includes a course for officers and others in Chaplaincy for Crisis Response through Olivet Nazarene University. |
