SEPTEMBER 2014
"
A
long about midnight, Paul and Silas were at prayer
and singing a robust hymn to God. The other prisoners
couldn't believe their ears..."
(Act 16:25,26 The Message)
Paul and Silas had just been beaten for the cause of Christ.
Bruised, battered and chained in a smelly, dank jail cell, things did
not look good for them. However, despite their circumstances, they
began to sing songs of praise to the Lord. Imagine that. Servants of
God glorifying the Lord in a jail cell at the worst of times! It wasn't
the most convenient time to praise the Lord. It wasn't the most ideal
place of worship, far from it. Yet Paul and Silas gave praises to God
despite their circumstances.
Can we praise God despite some of the circumstances that we are go-
ing through today? We may not find ourselves in the most ideal situations.
We may encounter extreme hardships while faithfully serving Christ.
Despite the hardships, can we still sing His praises? Can we still give
Him glory while encountering the tempests and the storms of life?
Two things will occur when we continue to sing His praises.
1.

Our faith becomes stronger as we become more dependent on
the Holy Spirit's leading.
2.
Others will see our testimony and glorify the Lord!
Let's remember to sing His praise in every situation!
