T
hroughout her
teen years, Major
Sharon Whispell
was on a course for self-
destruction. Then, she
says of December 1987,
"It was the Christmas
that changed my life."
As early as age four, Sharon became
vulnerable when her mom and dad
divorced and a series of unsafe and
unhealthy situations plagued her
childhood. By age 10, fi nally landing
back with her mother, things really
didn't get any better.
"I grew up knowing my Mom and
Dad loved me, but I also knew that they
were blind to the things taking place in
my life due to their own distractions and
relationship. I grew up not being able to
trust men, and had a fear of relationships
and not really knowing what love really
meant," Major Sharon admits.
