The War Cry | DECEMBER 2014
Harkening in
a Parking Lot
by
LANETTE KISSEL
I
t was early in the Christmas season.
I was leaving our busy local Walmart
when I heard a beautiful sound. It took
a moment for my mind to register what I
was hearing. Glancing across the
parking lot, I saw a young man
standing beside a Salvation Army
red kettle. He was singing Christmas
carols at the top of his lungs. The
words rang clearly through the crisp
air. His tone was strong and inten-
tional. He had a message to bring.
He knew the value of those old
familiar carols that are now fre-
quently overlooked and replaced by
the secular songs of the season.
His heartfelt song touched my
heart and nourished my soul,
reminding me that Jesus is the
reason for the season.

Because
there are no

Because
the change you
just got back... could
change someone's
life for good.
