An App With
A Mission
S
alvation Army publications represent the Army's mission
in print, on the web and now through a new user friendly
mobile app that features every page of the War Cry,
Intersection and Young Salvationist. The app also accesses
Word & Deed and Crest Books. Enhanced links to online
only content and videos, and plans to add valuable links
and content in the future, means this app will grow
as a resource for news, views and inspiration.

I'm showing my age, but I miss
the days of my youth when we
had open-air meetings near
the Chicago #16 Englewood
Corps in the 1940's. My grand-
father wore his Salvation Army
jersey and I learned of "blood
and fire" at a young age. My
father played in the band and
later became an evangelistic
preacher in the open-air meet-
ings. The Salvation Army truly
has a wonder-
ful heritage.

Just wanted to
thank you for
the work that
went into the
Special Heritage
Edition
of The
War Cry. I read it from cover
to cover with great interest. I
enjoyed reading the selection
of articles and was particularly
moved by the drawing on the
back cover with the title "Al-
ways on duty." It is a fact of
life that Salvationists should
be ready in a moment's notice
to offer a word of witness or
an encouragement when the
opportunity arises. Thank you
for the beautiful reminder.
I appreciate your dedication to
sharing Salvation Army history
and your ministry in sharing
the love of God through the
power of the printed word.

Congratulations to you and
your team for the excellence of
the Special Heritage Edition of
the War Cry. Permit one obser-
vation on page 7. I was trained
to operate a linotype machine,
and my last job in Australia
was typesetting for the Aus-
tralian War Cry. Perhaps it has
been drawn to your attention
that the picture of the linotype
machine is reversed. However,
as a printer, I really enjoyed the
article, which brought back
happy memories of the indus-
try that places much of my
experience in a museum today!
Beyond this, please receive my
continuing appreciation for
the ever-improving quality of
the periodical. Today, it is very
readable, attractive and not

was music by the band and
string band along with special
presentations on youth night.
It was a real blessing to all who
attended and I have heard
from many who were present.

Recipes
We enjoy reading the War Cry.
We are especially impressed
with all of the recent changes
and love that the articles
are more relatable to non-
Salvationists. The men cut out
the recipes and send them
home to their wives!

Great!
May I simply say, the
War Cry looks great.
As I receive each is-
sue, I intend to write
to you and tell you
that I love the changes.
It is very impressive.

Strong Visuals
The July War Cry came
today. The clean lines,
the white space, the strong
visuals are quite compelling.
Seeing Army writers
attractively presented
encourages me. To you and
your design staff, well done!
