Another recurring focus of the week was
the way God uses people to influence others to
accept Christ as Savior. This is about more than
just one person leading another to the Lord,
although that does happen; it's something akin
to a team effort involving many Christians and
an extended period of time.
"You might plant the seed; someone else
later may water it; still later someone entirely
different will be used by God to actually lead
someone to Christ. But it's not us doing the
saving. Only God does that. We are merely
sidekicks to what He wants to accomplish,"
said NSE-CSM Cotton Presley.
The revelation of this teamwork with God
and a host of other believers instilled much
hope in the delegates that they do not have to
do it all, but that God works these miracles in
His own way and in His own time.
Delegates were placed among 15
evangelistic teams to study the Hybels material
and planning strategy for the day when they
would be sent out for practical application.
Near the conclusion of the NSE, the teams
were dispatched to Denver, Colorado Springs,
Manitou Springs and Pueblo. They
provided food and listened, talked
and showed the love of Christ to many
who are homeless, hurting, and haunted by a
lifetime of sin and circumstance.
The climax of NSE was the Friday evening
Covenant Service. Drawing from the beautiful
text of John 21:1-14, NSE director Lt. Colonel
David Kelly skillfully compared Christ's third
post-resurrection appearance to His disciples.
