Admit your need

The title is based on scientific
fact, even if the show's premise is not.
"Quantum leap" in physics de-
scribes a sudden dramatic and signifi-
cant change when a molecule moves
from one level to another. Some sci-
entists contend that if time travel is
possible, then some type of quantum
physics must take place.
Before you dismiss this as pure
science fiction, hold on a second.
Suppose we take a man--a real
grandfatherly type. He's lived a long
time, worked hard all his life, raised
his family and now enjoys his role as
patriarch over many grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
This old gentleman is a man of
God. Most everyone acknowl-
edges that he is a decent and
upright member of the commu-
nity, which some folks attribute
to his right relationship with God.
In fact, the Bible tells us just that:
Enoch walked faithfully with God;
then he was no more, because God

took him away
(Genesis 5:24).
Imagine, a daily walk with God,
just as his grandfather seven-times
removed (Adam) had done--and
one day, while on his daily constitu-
tional, Enoch just kept on walking!
This is not death. Nor is it time
travel. It might be best described as
a quantum leap--from Earth's grav-
ity straight into Heaven's pure air.
So, you say, this is likely the only
such instance of a man bypassing the
bitter taste of death--so therefore,
you can't believe?
Nay--it did happen a second
time (see the story of Elijah).
And it will happen again! Ask any
born-again believer in Jesus about the
Rapture.
The point of all this is to pres-
ent to you the possibility of what we
as Christians know by faith as fact.
It is something we hope for and ea-
gerly anticipate.
In that light, it's not such a
(quantum) leap, after all!
