The official logo chosen for the Salvation Army International
Congress,
with a circular shape indicative of the earth, captures the
congress theme Boundless The Whole World Redeeming. As Lt. Colonel
Eddie Hobgood, congress coordinator, explains, Salvationists desire to see the
entire world won for God.
The logo was selected by the International Congress Planning and
Advisory Council from approximately 40 submissions from around the
Salvation Army
world.
The logo's
interwoven shapes
each resemble a
dove, the symbol
of the Holy Spirit.
Commissioner William Cochrane, International Secretary to the Chief of the
Staff, explains: "We are a holiness movement and this congress will express
that from the outset. Additionally, the interlocking shapes in the traditional
Salvation Army colors of yellow, red and blue infer the unity that is ours
through our diversity. The Salvation Army is at work in 126 countries around
the world, yet we are one."
The combined elements form a star, a prominent symbol on the
Salvation Army flag. "This circular shape, which has no beginning nor ending,
reminds us of the words eternal, never-ending, limitless, boundless. God's
love, His salvation and His grace are indeed boundless and worthy of our
acknowledgement and
celebration during the
course of our five days
together in London,"
adds Lt. Colonel
Hobgood.

The first five years are critical in a child's life. And
this is the most important time to get your child
support for a developmental delay or special need.
Children develop skills, or "milestones," at their
own pace. How is your child doing? Every year,
more than one million children with unidentified
disabilities enter school with issues that put them
behind their peers. Easter Seals makes it easy
to find out if your child is at risk. You only need
10-20 minutes to check with the Ages & Stages
Questionnaires,Third Edition. Results will help you
see if your child's developmental progress is on
time and alert you to concerns that you can talk
over with your health care provider.
The good news is that kids with delays,
disabilities, and autism can make significant
progress if they get support early in life. That's
why Easter Seals offers early identification and
intervention services for parents and caregivers.

General Andr Cox
has started to build a significant online
presence with the launch of a new website and social media
accounts. His website, www.salvationarmy.org/thegeneral,
will provide up-to-date news about official engagements, as
well as reports and photos from his visits to Salvation Army
initiatives in the 126 countries where the Army flag flies. The
Worldwide Prayer Meeting--held every Thursday--continues
to be an important part of the General's site, and Salvationists
and friends are encouraged to contribute their own prayers
for the global mission of The Salvation Army. The General's
website is supported by a Twitter account and for the first
time a Facebook page.
