primary mission
of evangelism.
FROM ITS EARLIEST DAYS
,
The Salvation Army
has placed great importance on the written word,
as a means to report news, convey information
and provide spiritual counsel and inspiration.
The War Cry was first published in the United
States in January 1881, with a title which today
may seem quaint to many, and anachronistic to
others, but which still finds its way into homes, hospitals, places
of business, and, most importantly, human hearts.
Readers of the War Cry will be interested to know that this
past year (2011), its 26 bi-weekly issues had an average distri-
bution of 288,000 copies. Remarkable, indeed!
Even more so is the number of reader responses received by
way of the coupon included in every issue. A total of 2,038 such
responses were made, which are detailed here. I invite you to re-
view this report. Your attention is especially directed to the report
that 683 persons requested prayer, 246 sought counsel on how to
receive Christ, and 184 persons actually came to faith in Him.
Our prayer is that the War Cry will continue to provide en-
couragement and enlightenment, and will be a vehicle which
God uses to bless many.
Thank you for reading the War Cry.
