Rosa Parks (02/04/1913--10/24/2005),
known as the "mother of the freedom
movement" was one of the first
persons to resist bus segregation in
Montgomery, Alabama, and was arrested
on December 1, 1955 for refusing an
order by a bus driver to give up her seat.
