BIBLE TRIVIA
Fasts and Breaking of Fasts
1. What did Jesus eat after His resurrection to prove He was not a
mere phantom?
2. Who fasted for forty days on Mount Sinai?
3. Who had a Passover meal with his followers in the upper room?
4. Who received meals at the hands of birds?
5. What meat was eaten at the Passover meal?
Prayer as I reflect on all the people
you place in my life today.
I think about my family, my relatives, the
neighbors, people with whom we will spend
this day. Dear Jesus, as I look at their faces
and remember their stories, there are feel-
ings of gratitude and some fear and anxiety.
Thank you for these loved ones and please
forgive me for the ways I have been less than
accepting and loving. Please heal the wounds,
division and conflicts that stand between us
and help me to remember how dearly you love
them. I only want to remember that you have
come to save us all.
Amen.
NUTS FOR DIABETES
What happened when a group of type 2 diabetics traded their usual carbs
(as in muffins) for two ounces of unsalted raw nuts every day? They controlled their
blood glucose and lipid levels without gaining weight, according to a St. Michael's Hospital/University of Toronto study.
But before you scoop up those almonds, take note: Although the unsaturated fats found in nuts are indeed healthy, nuts
still pack a lot of calories--which is why they should be consumed by the handful, not by the bucketful, as part of a
balanced diet. The CDC estimates that nearly 26 million Americans have the disease,
7 million of whom have never been diagnosed. Get tested today.
Instructions
In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the beef, vegetables,
soup mix and seasonings. Seal bag; shake to coat evenly. Transfer

spray (pan will be very full). Pour water over beef mixture. Cover
and bake at 325 for 90 minutes. Stir in tomatoes. Bake, uncovered,
for 30-40 minutes, or until beef and vegetables are tender, stirring
after 25 minutes. Yield: 6 servings.
