WORDS TO LIVE BY
For to us a child is born, to us a son is
given, and the government will be on His
shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)
In this issue we looked at Christmas from various points
along the spectrum. The frustration that comes from
commercialism can be aggravating and at times mind-
numbing. At the same time, we look forward to the warmth
that comes from good fellowship with friends and family.
Connect with us online and give us your perspective. What
brings you joy during the holidays? Where do you see
yourself struggling? Let's talk more about how the mystery
of Christmas can be revealed in your life.

This Fall we conducted a short on-
line survey asking people to name their
favorite Christmas fi lms and traditions.
While the results weren't especially surprising,
the survey did reveal that what people value most during
the holidays are friends and family.
The favorite fi lm--by a longshot--was the 1946 clas-
sic starring James Stewart, It's A Wonderful Life. Most peo-
ple are familiar with this classic tale--Mr. Bailey wonders
if all that he's accomplished in his life has been worth it.
Through an extraordinary series of events, he comes to the
realization that his family is important and his life has made
a difference to those closest to him.
What's interesting in the survey results is that a lot of
people believe exactly what Mr. Bailey came to believe--
that fellowship and gathering with friends and family helps
make the holidays a special time.
This Christmas season, take time to cherish those clos-
est to you. And if, like Mr. Bailey, you happen to be search-
ing for meaning, why don't you take yourself down to the
local Salvation Army church for a dose of Christmas cheer
and friendly fellowship. Our gatherings may not be elabo-
rate, but they sure are warm and inviting. Who knows, you
may just fi nd what you're looking for.
What about you? What are your favorite fi lms and traditions
during this festive time of the year? Connect with us and
let us know what your Christmas favorites are.
