Essence
The Green Bay Packers
teamed
up with
The Salvation Army
to host a school supply drive during
family night at Lambeau field last month
where the professional football team played
an intrasquad scrimmage. Fans brought pencils,
notebooks, folders and loose-leaf paper to help those
in need.
"It's a good way to give back to the local community,
working with the Salvation Army of Brown County to
help underprivileged students here," said Justin Wolf
with the Packers Marketing Department.
The supplies were donated to the Army's Back to
School Store where families could pick them up.

Lt. Colonel Sandra
L. Defibaugh
was
promoted to Glory
suddenly at her
home in Alexandria,
Virginia on July 29,
2013. She had been
serving as National
Treasurer and
Secretary for Business Administration at
Salvation Army National Headquarters
(NHQ) in Alexandria since 2011. Prior
to that, she was
the Divisional
Commander
for Maryland
and West
Virginia as well
as Assistant
National Chief
Secretary at
NHQ.
Born in
1951 in Caldwell, West Virginia, at
the age of nine she moved to Staunton,
Virginia, where she began attending
The Salvation Army. She gave her life
to Christ at the age of 12 and accepted
the call to officership at a family camp
in 1975. What most impressed her was
the notion that discipleship was not
about her own gifts and talents, but
rather what God could do if she
submitted her will to Him. In 1978, she
was commissioned as a member of the
"Disciples of Jesus" Session.
Lt. Colonel Defibaugh will be fondly
remembered for her authentic nature, as
well as a rare blend of professionalism,
kindness and compassion. She is survived
by her mother, Betty Loomis, a long time
soldier and local officer of the Staunton
corps; two brothers, Gary Defibaugh
and David Hazelwood; and one sister,
Deborah Morrison, all of Staunton.
The Scripture that guided her life
was Philippians 4:6: "Be careful for
nothing; but in everything by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving, let your
requests be made known unto God."
