WORDS TO LIVE BY
Jesus replied: "`Love the Lord your God with all
your heart and with all your soul and with all your
mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment.
And the second is like it: `Love your neighbor as
yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on
these two commandments."
Matthew 22:37-40
In our feature article this month, Jarod Osborne
talks about relativism and truth. Osborne imagines
a neighborhood where a Christian and Satanist lived
next door to each other. While this is not impossible,
we all have neighbors who do not believe what we
believe or act like we act. How do we live in harmony
with each other? Do your beliefs dictate how you treat
your neighbor?
Look at these verses from the Bible and think about
whether they have any bearing on how you interact
with your neighbors.
Proverbs 11:12 "Whoever despises their neighbor
lacks sense; a sensible person keeps quiet."
Romans 12:18 "If it is possible, as far as it depends on
you, live at peace with everyone."
Philippians 2:3-4 "Don't do anything for selfish
purposes, but with humility think of others as better
than yourselves. Instead of each person watching out
for their own good, watch out for what is better for
others."
