LETTERS TO THE EDITOR inspiring articles in the National War Cry. I was particularly blessed by the April edition - Challenging the Challenges! Colonel Lynette Rowe Tanzania Territory ..................... Large Print Edition I was well pleased to receive the sample large print edition of the War Cry that you will be printing for Christmas. I would like to have at least 100 copies of this edition. Chaplain F. Augustine Century Correctional Institution, Century, FL ..................... Holy Week Issue I LOVE your Holy Week War Cry! I’ve been taking it to our homebound members as much as possible. Also sent the Holy week and Easter War Crys to our kids, who are “spiritual but not religious!” I think the Resurrection mural by Ron DiCianni, whose illustration is on the cover of the Easter issue, commissioned by the Museum of Biblical Art in Dallas, Texas is a must see!!! It is a 12 x 40’ oil on canvas, a depiction of the moment FOR THE SPECIAL HERITAGE ISSUE! This year’s special edition looks back at the years 1900–1910. It contains dynamic articles and stories about The Salvation Army’s advances, including General William Booth’s visit to the White House, the death of Emma Booth Tucker, the 1906 San Francisco’s Earthquake, and much more! SA Doctrine (continued) Stephen Boyer asks where the truth of the resurrection is in The Salvation Army Articles of Faith. That is a very thoughtful question. Why did the founders of The Army leave out Resurrection from doctrine 6? Paul tells us, if Christ had not risen, we would have no faith. I would add to the Editor’s answer, that it is also indicated in doctrine 3: “We believe that there ARE three persons in the Godhead...” The verb indicates the three are living. Also, Doctrine 4 speaks of the natures of Jesus Christ being united ‘so that He IS truly and properly God and truly and properly man.” Another colleague also points out that doctrine 11 states: “We believe in the immortality of the soul; in the resurrection of the body....” Thanks, Stephen, for stirring our hearts and minds by your question. Major Joy Emmons Nyack, NY ..................... The War Cry just gets better and better each issue and is so relevant to life i issues we all s struggle with t today. J Jon Wallace, D Denver, CO ( (via Facebook) . ..................... So “Real” S T Thank you for the A April issue. It is so “real.” I wish I had “ about 30 copies to share. I don’t usually write to the War Cry, but this time I thought it was exceptional in dealing with issues real people are facing, and not in a “if you only had more faith, in your face, kind of a way.” Major Donna McGee (via email) ..................... Running Short Here at the Allen/ Oakwood Correctional Institution Religious department we are attempting to reach out to the many ministries who are or would be willing to help our inmates grow in their walk with the Lord. In the past we have received the War Cry from your organization. Many of our inmates enjoy reading it and we seem to run out quickly. Our current population is 1550 inmates. If it would be possible could you please increase our subscription to 50 per issue? Chaplain Charles DuPree Lima, Ohio of Jesus emerging from the tomb.
